Start of IT Leaders Academy!
The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) at Sofia University and Musala Soft, supported by the foundation "FMI Community" started the IT Leaders Academy (http://fmisociety.org/ITLeadersAcademy/). The official opening of the Academy was on the 6th of October in Hall "Musala" at FMI.
The Event gathered over 100 future IT Leaders, at the first Academy lecture - "Web 2.0 enablement, current technological trends and future of the World Wide Web" presented by IBM Emerging Technologies Group. The lecture is part of the series of seminars of the Group all over the world. Speakers were James Smith (Founder, Manager and Manager- Customer Innovation Team, IBM), Ed Elze (Strategy Manager - Customer Innovation Team, IBM), Samuel Thompson (Founder IBM's Emerging Technologies jStart (jump start) group), Fiodar Zboichyk (Technical Solutions Architect - Customer Innovation Team, IBM) and Anislav Atanasov (FMI bachelor and Senior Software Engineer - Musala Soft). Some of the subjects of the lecture were: the concept of Web 2.0, the history of some of its components, the OpenAjax Alliance initiative for combining different mashups standarts and the creation of one common. Also a demonstration was held on the subject of mashups creation technology using IBM Mashup Center. The event was quite dynamic and interactive and the enthusiastic audience participated in the lecture by asking lots of questions
The Vice Dean of the Faculty, professor Dimitar Birov opened the ceremony, presenting the essence of the IT Leaders Academy - a course of practical, business and science oriented presentations and discussions held by leading IT experts from both Bulgarian and Multinational companies. Through the Academy, The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics gives its students the opportunity to hear the secrets from those who create the future. The vision about the present and future of IT will be shared by its very own creators, evangelists, pioneers and leading analyzers. The acquired knowledge will be one step further in making successful business or science carrier for the students at FMI.
